The Royal Family attend a Te Deum thanksgiving service

On the morning of 15 September, the Royal Family attended a Te Deum thanksgiving service in the Royal Chapel at the Royal of Stockholm. The service was held as part of the celebrations for HM The King's 50th jubilee.

The service began with Sébastien Holmström Borén's Fanfare From Vasa to Bernadotte.

The service was led by Chief Court Chaplain Johan Dalman and Pastor of the Royal Court Parish Michael Bjerkhagen.

During the Te Deum, the congregation listened to The Coronation March, composed by Ludvig Norman for the coronation of King Oskar II and Queen Sofia, The Good Shepherd by Princess Eugénie, and Te Deum by Edvard Gille.

The performers were Court Trumpeter Olle Hermansen, trumpeter Björn Nyman, an ensemble from the Navy Music Corps conducted by Alexander Hanson, Cathedral Organist Mattias Wager, the Royal Chapel Vocal Ensemble, the Palace Choir and Court Organist Mary Ljungquist Hén.

Te Deum

The Te Deum – a thanksgiving service – is an ancient church ceremony, which in a royal context takes place in connection with important events at the Royal Court: christenings, birthdays, jubilees and other ceremonial occasions.
