The Crown Princess holds an audience with the UN World Food Programme

On Tuesday 14 June, The Crown Princess held an audience with David Beasley, CEO of the UN World Food Programme, at the Royal Palace.

During the audience, The Crown Princess was updated on the work of the programme. Sweden is the World Food Programme's biggest donor of core support, and has recently signed a new four-year agreement with the organisation.

The UN World Food Programme

The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian organisation, and plays a crucial role in saving lives around the world including in connection with some of the most severe crises such as those in Afghanistan, Ethiopia and Yemen. Global hunger and the risk of large-scale starvation have increased significantly in recent years. More than 155 million people currently suffer from acute hunger, and 45 million risk starving to death.
